7:00PM at the Hampden Town Hall
April 8, 2004

Approved: April 22, 2004

Attendance: Board members: Chris McDonald, Michael D’Agostino, Tina Albano and Larry Forrest. Also present was Sue Gorman.

Bills: Reviewed and paid

Minutes: Minutes were approved for the March 11, 2004 meeting. Michael D’Agostino made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Tina Albano. Unanimous.

There was no meeting held on March 25, 2004

Director’s Report:  No report, Jay was not present.

Baseball: Several board members expressed concern over the recent placement for teams. There was controversy as to whether the board should revert back to having the authority of choosing rosters and making coach selections. Several issues needed clarification. A special meeting for April 14, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. was posted to further discuss coach’s selection, team rosters and evaluations.

-There was an error made for PV spring soccer placement for the girls U11 and U12 teams. Both teams were incorrectly placed up in the next age bracket. Tina expressed concern as to whether there was any recourse for these teams. At this point it doesn’t appear that any changes could be made.

-Chris mentioned that the soccer field was not in good shape. He was to stake out a modified field by the baseball diamond in order to give the other field a rest.

-Chris also recommended for fall soccer that the fees be increased and to include giving a soccer ball to the kids.

Fall Festival: Glennice dropped off paperwork in her absence to explain the possibility for combining the Buddy Walk for Downs Syndrome on the same day as the Fall Festival. More information is needed from Laurie Houle Isham, President of the Downs Syndrome Organization, before any decision is made. Laurie will be asked to attend the next meeting. The Buddy Walk is scheduled for October 2, 2004. Is there any flexibility with this date? This is tabled until the next meeting.

Old Business:

-Michael was questioning the status of Coaches Evaluations, and what the metric for these were, how many sent out vs. how many have been returned.

-Chris wanted to know where we stood with the Health Forms: These need to be circulated.

-A Patriots bus trip, scheduled for sometime this fall, will be booked as soon as the schedule for games comes out at the end pf April.

-Both Boston Red Sox Trips are now sold out

-Flyers for the Summer Activities Program have been sent out through the schools. Applications for staff have also been mailed to past employees. Interviewing for positions will begin at the end of April. The board was agreeable to offer a before care program from 7:30-9:00 A.M. to attract children who may not be able to attend due to the 9:00 start time.

Larry made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Tina seconded. Unanimous.                        Meeting was adjourned at 8:45 P.M.

Next meeting: April 22, 2004 at 7:00 P.M.
