Director’s report
TWB -Fields: The field has been plugged, with possible seeding/sod in the spring and the nets will be removed on 10/15
-Gym: The gym floor has been very slippery. Coaches may need to mop it regularly
-Basketball Court: There was discussion as to whether this could be repaved in the spring
Memorial Park: Water appears to be rising and the valves are closed. Jay to discuss with the Highway Dept.
Movie night: The last movie went very well. RAH is holding the next movie, Santa Claus 2 on Nov. 22nd with Park and Rec running Pirates of the Caribbean on Dec 6th.
Sports: Basketball-Travel teams will begin soon. Approx 240 kids have signed up to play.
Soccer- approx 100 sign ups for spring soccer are also in.
Soccer
Chris reported that overall the season went well. Four fines had to be paid due to late reporting of scores from the coaches. The coaches need to be informed to be able to avoid these fines in the future. Glen Walulak will be the new soccer coordinator. A class will be scheduled for coaches to get their F license. The dates for this will be Dec15th and 16th. There is a minimum of 15 coaches to hold this class. Perhaps coaches from Wilbraham and East Longmeadow may be interested in filling extra seats.
Sport Policy Committee
Glennice is to submit an ad into the Reminder to advertise for a committee. Is there a need for this? Jay presented a form with team guidelines. This could erase any questions/situations that may occur. Would this guideline be beneficial and more advantageous than an actual committee? This will be reviewed and discussed at the next meeting.
First Aid Kits
Glennice suggested teaching coaches how to use the kits. All coaches should be first aid certified and should be aware of the proper use.
Coach Selection
RAH is to no longer select coaches. Glennice felt that this should be the director’s job. In the past, this always was the responsibility of the board since there was no director. It was suggested that Jay be allowed to select coaches in the future. Chris felt that this could be a problem and that certain criteria may have to be put into place. The board can then approve the choices. This was tabled for further discussion at the next meeting.
Next meeting: November 25, 2003 at 7:30 P.M.
Chris made a motion to adjourn, Larry seconded, unanimous.
