Field Checklist

John Flynn presented the Board with a letter concerning PVJSL using both soccer fields at TWB. Concerns discussed were: the impact of soccer usage on the baseball and softball fields at TWB, and the impact of the Green Meadows construction eliminating the soccer and baseball fields at that school for usage.

Discussed what the status of the issue is. There was no information from Chris. Jay said that he had spoken with Chris, and did not believe anything had been done, or that Lou had been contacted.

No written documentation was available for review, as required by the meeting of Dec. 12.

There are 3 teams using the Pony field and all the softball games are at the Park. Therefore the Park has not much free time available for baseball / softball teams. John was looking for a map of the soccer practice areas to see if they impact the baseball/softball fields.

John suggested that a letter be drafted to Pioneer Valley to document any decisions.

Discussed the last meeting when the vote was taken to have Chris pursue the issue. Agreed that more information was needed to be sure that it would not have a detrimental effect on other sports or the fields.

Rick Green spoke to what had happened through RAH. Rick explained that the issue had come up at a tournament, and that Eddie Pessalano had discussed bringing the idea up to Lou from Pioneer Valley. Then Eddie brought it up at a RAH meeting as a possible idea. Discussed that there should be documentation about the whole issue.

He suggested sending a letter to Pioneer Valley asking for more information as to what they want. ie when they want to start, Sundays only, what fields are needed / wanted?

Jim said we should wait until a full Board was in attendance before a decision was made. Jay said that they would not need the information before mid-January.

Glennice made a motion to take no further action on the Pioneer Valley soccer issue pending further information from Pioneer Valley and documentation on the impact to soccer and baseball.

Tom seconded

Voted unanimous

Jim will call Chris and ask for further documentation. The Board would like an impact evaluation and a letter of request from Pioneer Valley.

Basketball

Chris did not leave the schedule for coverage.

Movie Night

Jan 4 – Brian McBride and Scouts

Jan 25 – Karen Hatch and Girl Scouts

John has sent Jay a set-up guide. Jim ordered a cart for the projector at no cost.

John will send flyers through the schools.

Baseball

John suggested a $5.00 fee increase for the traveling teams to cover increased league fees.

Discussed the giving out of medallions, trophies, or sport-specific balls to each participant. Glennice said that she would rather have fees cut than raise them to pay for giveaways.

Rick suggested that RAH will send out a questionnaire to see what parents would like.

TWB Trophy case

Noel would like it moved to the cafeteria, and have a bigger one. Jay will call Noel and get more information.

New Business

RAH Revisions

Rick spoke about revisions being made to RAH by-laws. Rick said when they are done he would provide a set to us. Jim asked if they could be given to us as they are being done. That would give us the opportunity to add input if desired. Rick said that would be fine.

Land Project

Jay said he had been contacted about Park and Rec supporting the Land Project’s re-creation of the original clambake. Discussed what we could offer. They want us to help out and to support the event. Perhaps run games? Jay will invite them to make a presentation at a future meeting.

Meeting adjourned 8:10 pm

Respectfully submitted
