MINUTES
HAMPDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
March 31, 2003
Present; K. Pessolano, B.
deSousa, P. Nossal, M. Crowley, R. Fadus
Guests: J. Smith
The meeting began at 6:00pm.
Minutes: The minutes from March 23rd were approved as
written.
Discussion: General discussion surrounded the override
and the repercussions if it failed.
The HWRSD has stated that if there are concessions on teacher salaries,
savings would be utilized to restore music to the elementary students in
Wilbraham who lost this last year.
Jim spoke in regards to salaries.
He is looking for consistency in pay raises across the board and feels
it is not right to ask the taxpayers to fund salary increases through an
override.
Warrant articles were reviewed for the STM and the ATM.
The transfer station funding
issue was visited again. The committee
recommends raising bag fees or instituting a sticker program to cover the cost
of the tipping fees therefore making the dump self- funding.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm for the hearing and will reconvene on
Tues. April 1st at 6:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Rauscher
