Meeting minutes:

Minutes approved from March 28, 2002 meeting

Bills paid:

Abacus Sports (baseball and soccer), Annie’s, Dunkin Donuts and Costco (Playground donations-$100.00 to be paid to Glennice), Metro West, Reminder, telephone, electric

Pool:

Upper well connected to bathhouse. Another connection still needs to be made. Dig safe needs to come again.  Need a shut off valve to avoid overflow from the runoff into the creek.  A new hose tap is needed on lower pump to be able to water the field.   Check with Tom. The flow of the pump still needs to be checked once the well is running.  Pool walls need repair. There are many large cracks. Check with Mike D,Amours on walls. He is also going to backfill the trench when work is completed. The pool still needs to be completely drained and emptied.  HTH needs to purchased possibly from a different company that has been used in the past. It has been suggested that Gary Swanson attend a meeting.

Sports:

Ball fields turned and raked. Still need more work to be done. Check on Taylor Rental for rental of larger equipment to be able to more quickly prepare the fields. It was suggested that equipment be purchased to maintain the fields. Check with other towns to see what they use. We need to get estimates and have a demonstration done on a dry field. John noted the baseball equipment seems fine. Uniforms look good with only 6 pants needed to be ordered.

Check with the church for community service for scoring for games.

Irrigation:

The quote received from Hydro Pro for Phase I is $17,200.00. More quotes are needed. There does not seem to be enough coverage on the field according to the plan.  The Park and Rec are willing to donate $5,000.00 for the system. A decision needs to be made by the first RAH June meeting. John would like to see a larger donation and plans for Phase II.

Field Usage:

Peter Fatse has requested to use the fields for his baseball team. He would like to practice and also hold 8 home games. It is allowable for practice but not for games. No private organization can use fields. It was voted to uphold the policy from the past that Non-Park and Rec or RAH sponsored teams  not to be allowed to use the fields for games.

Playground:

The playground needs to be finished with landscape timbers because the mulch that was on the grass area has washed out onto the pavement. It constantly needs to be swept. Should the timbers be buried? Check with Dr. Play. Who should take care of this situation? This needs to be addressed.

A Thank you note was sent from Hampden C.A.R.E.S. for Park and Rec involvement.

Camp:

Counselors and C.I.T.’s have been interviewed. Decisions will be made soon. An assistant for the camp is needed. There is a student from Springfield College that needs to do an internship that may be able to fill this position from 12:00-4:00 as well as office coverage from 10:00-12:00.
