Andrea reported that the tentative date of installation for the large part of the playground equipment is May 18,2002. The Park and Rec would like to provide hot dogs and popcorn during installation. .. The location for the smaller equipment still depends on the expansion of GM School. Andrea will check with the playground equipment company to find out what prep work is necessary. The building committee/architect are checking into this.. To date $34.000. has been collected plus $4,000. in uncollected pledges. They are planning pasta dinner Feb. 12,2002 at Annie’s Place. There still is a question about the $350.00 custodial fee from a previous event which needs to be paid.
Movie Nights:
Future dates chosen: Feb. 16,2002
April 13,2002
June 1, 2002 (first outside show)
Soccer Camp:
Jon Voight from Soccer City would like to hold camp June 24-28, 2002 from 9-3:00 PM. Tuition would include a 10% discount for Hampden children and a 10% reimbursement for out-of-town children. He also inquired about Soccer City renting fields in the fall depending on field availability. It was agreed that this would not be allowed since he is not in town.
Basketball:
Jay reported that the season is off to a good start. All is going well with the games, refs etc.
With the 50 basketballs needed to be ordered there is a minimum of 80 at approx $8.70/ball. Ordering a lesser amount would be costlier. It was agreed to order larger amount, the balls will always be used.
C.Y.O. Jim noticed in other gyms that some teams collect a small donation to help defray costs. Possibly parents from each team could rotate and help to collect.
Discrepency between Hampden/Wilb. Refs has been commented on by many. There needs to be more consistency. At this point little can be done. Jay to speak to Brian in Wilb.
Parent volunteers are needed from each team to keep score at games. Coaches need to be notified to find parents to assist.
Pool:
Jim to call Gary Swanson/Chemical Engineer about pool.
Misc:
Flyer needs to be put together for upcoming events, spring sports, movie nights etc. We need to coordinate with Wilb. Rec. so we don’t overlap events.
Jay to check with Steve Hall to reorder first aid kits.
Soccer letters need more exposure through school to reach more parents.
Parent volunteers are needed from each team to keep score at games. Coaches need to be notified to find parents to assist.
It was mentioned that a small shed be put at TWB for snacks.
Tom suggested bringing back the chess club/ rollerskating for the kids after school. Is there a fee involved? Jay to check with Noel.
