Brian called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.
The minutes of April 14, 2004 will be voted at the next meeting.
The Treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
Director’s report was verbal. On May 11th, the SHINE Director will speak on the Prescription Card; on the 13th, an Elder Law Program will present changes in medicaid; on the 15th, Arlene will host Spring Clean Up Day from 8 AM to noon; on the 18th, Rita has organized a Circuit Breaker Tax Seminar at 10:30 AM; on the 20th is a Volunteer Recognition Lunch.
BUDGET:
Friday, May 7th, Becky, Brian, Pat, Virginia, Arlene and Rita met with the Board of Selectmen to discuss the fate of the COA budget after the failure of the override.
Becky reported that the Advisory Board has stated that the COA and Senior Center budget must be reduced by $18,686 because the override failed. Brian and Rita both presented alternative cuts to the budget voted at the Annual Town Meeting. After must discussion and figuring, a new budget was voted which Becky will present to the Advisory Board before its scheduled meeting tonight.
Arlene submitted to the Board, bids for washing the windows of the Senior Center. Rita stated that the United Way does this kind of activity free of charge. Arlene will look into this.
