Present: James Smith, Mark Barba.
Absent: Duane Mosier, out of town.
Mark Barba called the meeting to order at 7:05.
7:00 pm Walk-ins
7:30 pm Vincent Mandolini, 17 Fernwood Drive: Storm Drain Issue. Mr. Mandolini has a storm drain line that goes onto his property and is open for 30-40 feet. It was cleaned some time ago and he contends that it needs cleaning again. We will speak with Dana Pixley, Highway Superintendent regarding the storm drain and ask for his schedule to have it cleaned.
Pioneer Valley Planning Commission: Eastern Pioneer Valley Sub-Regional Housing Plan: Requires signature from Board. Will wait to review when a full board is present.
Property Line Issue: David Bennett of Middlefield Drive came in to discuss the placement of a swing set recently installed by his neighbor. Mr. Bennett has talked with Mark Feeney, Building Inspector and wonders who is liable if a child falls off the swing set and lands on his property? He would like the Board to talk with Mark Feeney regarding this.
Contact Larry Moriarty, former Town House custodian, regarding working on an on-call basis. We also need to establish relationship with a few people on an as needed basis.
Contact Cable Commission and get them on the Selectmen’s schedule, speak with Dave Lalonde.
Event committee: Seek a group of citizens who are interested in being on an event planning committee. Work with Becky Moriarty looking for people who might want to serve on a board. They would have the existing budget to work with (line item number for events exists) and the Board will ensure that we have oversight authority. Get calendar of events together for their information.
Pay wages for police and dispatchers: Speak with Pat Smith to determine if a change has occurred in the way in which the officers and dispatchers are being paid.
Ø Check with Hastings Tapley regarding increased cost for Police and Fire coverage. Check with Dave Martel, Town Counsel to see what the going rate for other communities is.
Ø Discuss the need for Capital Planning Committee and Insurance Committee.
Ø Check on Tower Venture status.
Ø Check on Massachusetts Municipal membership.
