Board of Selectmen
Minutes
May 31, 2003
Approved 6/17/03
Attendance: Duane Mosier, Mark Barba, and James Smith.
Call To Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00am.
The Board discussed the revised budget items proposed by the Advisory Committee.
New budgets submitted by the heads of the Highway Department, Police Department and Council on Aging to comply with the Advisory Committee recommendations were discussed and accepted.
In discussing the budget reductions for the Administrative Assistant to the Board of Selectmen and the Secretary to the Board of Health the Board felt that it would be unrealistic to run the office with the 7-hour/week reductions recommended for each position. To compensate for some of the reduced hours the Board agreed to reduce their own salary line item in order to restore 2 hours each to the Administrative Assistant the Secretary to the Board of Health positions.
At the end of the meeting all revised budgets under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectmen were compiled for sending to the Advisory Committee to include in the “Revised Recommendations” for the June 2nd Annual Town Meeting.
The Board recognized that there may be the need to make adjustments within departments by asking voters at a fall Special Town Meeting to transfer money from one line item to another within a department.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:40am.
Respectfully Submitted,
James D. Smith
