Old Business:
1.
Green
Meadows School Addition
The Board discussed the status of state funding initiatives for the school addition at Green Meadows. Two critical components were addressed: The probability of success of the legislative initiative by Representative Mary Rogeness to “freeze” the Green Meadows project on the state SBAP funding list; and, the probability of the state making payments within the anticipated 7 years
The Board agreed to await any last-minute legislative information before making recommendations to the Annual Town Meeting. The topic will be on the agenda for the Selectmen’s meeting on April 29th at 6:00 p.m. just prior to Annual Town Meeting.
2. D.A.R.E. Funding Request– Annual Town Meeting
At a previous Board Meeting, Officer William Joy had indicated that, as a private resident, he would be seeking an additional $5,000 for funding for D.A.R.E. to make up for an anticipated loss of state funding.
Based on the budget limitations being placed on other departments and the possibility of alternative approaches and/or alternative funding the Board agreed that if they were asked to take a position at the Town Meeting they would not support the request.
New Business:
3. DEP Inspection, Transfer Station
Jim Smith had received a call from Dan Hall, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), on Friday April 28th regarding materials improperly disposed of along the back perimeter of the staging area behind the recycle area. Jim Smith stated that he had reviewed the site earlier this morning and reported that there were indeed some improperly disposed materials.
Jim had informed the Board and Dana Pixley, Superintendent of Highways, of the situation of Friday after the call from Dan Hall.
Jim said he has scheduled an on-site meeting with the DEP for Monday May 6th at 7:00 a.m. Jim and Duane Mosier will attend.
Austin McKeon moved, seconded by Duane Mosier to adjourn the meeting. The motion was adopted unanimously (3-0). The meeting adjourned at 12:15 P.M.
Respectfully submitted:
