The meeting was called to order at 6:05p.m. Board of Selectmen Austin G. McKeon, James
D. Smith, and Duane Mosier were in attendance. |

Old Business:
1. Minutes from February 19, 2002 for approval
Pg 3, Section 10: change “will be” to “was”
Pg 3, Section 10: add “to”
Pg 3, Section 10: add chief
Pg 3, Section 10: change “signed” to “approved”
Duane Mosier made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected. Jim Smith seconded, all in favor and so voted.
2. Glen Riddle
Candidate interviewed for the position of Board of Health agent.
3. Robert Cafferelli
Candidate interviewed for the position of Board of Health agent. Duane Mosier made a motion to authorize James Smith to offer Glen Riddle the position of Board of Health agent subject to James Smith obtaining a positive recommendation from the Town of Palmer. Austin Seconded. All in favor and so voted.
4. Marcus Bevan
Marcus is a filmmaker and has approached the Board for the Town’s support in his upcoming movie. He plans on using an abandoned house in town to shoot various scenes. He is looking for cooperation in using a fire and police vehicle and possibly using fire dept members and police officers as extras. The Selectmen do not have any concerns at this time but have asked that his attorney contact Town Counsel for any legal issues that may arise.
Old Business:
5. Tax Title
The Board has investigated the custodial issues from last week’s meeting. The Board of Selectmen can appoint an individual to oversee specific properties. The issue will be put on the April 8 meeting.
6. Police Search Committee
Five candidates and 2 alternates were chosen to fill the seats on the committee. A letter will be sent to the 5 individuals asking them to serve on the committee. Discussion regarding the duties of the committee members, drafting an outline for a charter and testing for the chief candidates took place. It was decided to go forward with designing a test for the chief’s position.
New Business:
7. Tabor Associates
Results of the position evaluation for the assistant assessor will be forwarded to May Lou Majkut in the Assessors Office.
8. Motion for Special Town Meeting
Reviewed the motion from David Martel for the Special Town Meeting. Will send a copy to Bond Counsel for review.
9. Bidding for Materials and Services
Letter received form Dana Pixley on bidding various materials and services. Will advise Dana to re-bid.
Other Business:
Trash bags will be sold at the Grogg Shop, they are requesting a larger inventory than 1 case of each size.
James has interviews scheduled for the recycling attendant this week.
James was only able to meet with 1 of the 4 scout leaders last week, until he can speak to the other 3 he will continue to have the scouts work on recycling days at the transfer station.
Austin noted that the advisory hearing would be held on March 4 at 7 p.m.and an informational hearing will be held at the Senior Center at 1 p.m. on the same day. The Regional Selectmen’s meeting is scheduled for Thursday February 28 at 7 p.m. in the Hampden Town House.
Austin McKeon moved, seconded by James Smith to adjourn the meeting. The motion was adopted unanimously (3-0). The meeting adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
